Black flag for the undisciplined

SAMARINDA, South Kalimantan: Governor H.M. Ardans said here yesterday that he will launch a three-month program to discipline local government offices by hoisting a black flag in front of those found to be undisciplined.

The program would also include rewarding offices and public servants performing well in their duties, Ardans, who was represented by his deputy Suwarna AF, was quoted by Antara as saying.

"The basis of the program (discipline) is the duty and obligation of every public servant as servants of the people and the country, and it should receive serious attention from all of us," the governor said.

He said the move was part of a national program to boost the National Discipline Drive, first launched by the government in 1995. (aan)
