BKPM promotes officials

JAKARTA (JP): State Minister of Investment Sanyoto, also
Chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), installed
five senior officials in a ceremony here yesterday.

He installed Sunaryo as Assistant on Fund Resources
Development to the State Minister of Investment, Wardijasa as the
minister's Assistant on Fund Utilization, Maj. Gen. R. Iskandar
as Deputy BKPM Chairman for Training and Supervision, Adeng
Zakaria as chief of the board's Bureau of Appraisal of New
Application for Non-industrial Sector Investments and Giek
Sugianto as chief of its Bureau for Non-industrial Sector
Investment Planning.

At the occasion yesterday, Sanyoto demanded the new first-
echelon officials to intensify investment supervision.

He told reporters later that the government should impose
tougher sanctions on several administrative violations committed
by investors.

Indonesia is expecting a total investment of about Rp 177
trillion (US$80.45 billion) over the next five years, most of
which is expected to come from the private sector. (hdj)
