BKN Sanctions West Sulawesi Provincial Government Following Sudden Non-Job Status for 95 Officials!
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The National Civil Service Agency (BKN) has taken firm action against the policy of placing officials in non-job status (nonjob) implemented by the West Sulawesi Provincial Government. Deputy for ASN Management Supervision and Control at BKN, Hardianawati, stated that this was deemed non-compliant with procedures as it lacked notification and recommendation from BKN. A total of 51 Administrator Officials and 44 Supervisory Officials were relieved of their structural positions by the West Sulawesi Provincial Government. This action has drawn attention for allegedly breaching the Norms, Standards, Procedures, and Criteria (NSPK) in civil servant (ASN) management. In response, BKN through the Deputy for Supervision and Control of ASN Management (Wasdal) immediately imposed administrative sanctions in the form of temporary suspension of civil service services for the West Sulawesi Provincial Government by blocking access to digital ASN system services, with the exception of pension services. “This suspension of services is carried out as an effort to regulate the processes of appointment, transfer, and dismissal of ASN to ensure they proceed in accordance with applicable provisions. This step is part of BKN’s implementation of its function in enforcing NSPK in ASN management across all government agencies, both at central and regional levels,” emphasised BKN’s Deputy for Wasdal, Hardianawati, in her statement, quoted on Wednesday (18/3/2026). Meanwhile, Director of Wasdal I, Andi Anto, said that the civil service service block for the West Sulawesi Provincial Government can be lifted once the regional government reorganises the filling of positions by reappointing the deactivated officials to their original positions or equivalent ones, and submits a recommendation request to BKN in accordance with applicable procedures. It is hoped that ASN management governance within the West Sulawesi Provincial Government can resume in an orderly, accountable manner, and in line with NSPK provisions for ASN management. The supervision and enforcement function of NSPK refers to Presidential Regulation No. 116 of 2022, whereby BKN has the function of supervising and controlling the implementation of ASN management, including ensuring that every civil service policy in government agencies is carried out in accordance with the established NSPK. “BKN can take administrative control measures if ASN management policies in a particular agency are found to be non-compliant with regulations as part of efforts to maintain consistency in applying the merit system in ASN management,” she concluded.
