Bioethanol Price Rises to Rp7,992 per Litre, Effective May 2026

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has officially set the Market Index Price (HIP) for Vegetable Fuel (BBN) type bioethanol for May 2026 at Rp7,992 per litre. This price is observed to have increased compared to the previous month, which was Rp7,957 per litre.

The HIP for BBN Bioethanol in May 2026 takes effect starting from 1 May 2026.

“The Market Index Price (HIP) for Vegetable Fuel (BBN) for biodiesel and bioethanol for May 2026 has been officially released,” stated the official Instagram account @djebtke, quoted on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

The price determination uses the formula established in Ministerial Decree No. 6034K/12/MEM/2016, namely HIP = (Average sugarcane tip price KPB for a 3-month period x 4.125 kg/litre) + 0.25 US$/litre.

The average sugarcane tip price KPB for the period from 15 October 2025 to 14 February 2026 was recorded at Rp907 per kilogram. Meanwhile, the exchange rate uses the reference of the average mid-rate from Bank Indonesia for the period from 15 March 2026 to 14 April 2026 at Rp17,008.
