Binawan University, in collaboration with Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, conducted a socialisation programme on the 4 Pillars of the MPR RI before 150 secondary and vocational school students and teachers from the Jabodetabek region at Binawan University’s Auditorium.

Vice-Rector for Governance, Resource Management and Strategic Partnerships, Farouk Abdullah Alwyni, explained that the activity formed part of both institutions’ commitment to instilling national values from an early age and strengthening young people’s understanding of Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Unitary State of the Indonesian Republic (NKRI), and National Unity in Diversity (Bhinneka Tunggal Ika) as the foundation for national and state life.

He added that the role of higher education institutions in building the national character of young people was of paramount importance.

“Higher education institutions have a duty not only to produce academically excellent graduates, but also those with strong character and a commitment to the nation. This 4 Pillars socialisation programme becomes an educational space to strengthen national identity amid globalisation challenges and the rapid flow of digital information,” he stated in a written statement on Saturday, 14 March 2026.

Farouk remarked that ultimately the 4 Pillars needed to be translated into realising an Indonesia that was more just, more civilised and humane, more prosperous, more advanced, and stronger, and could play an important role in achieving global justice and peace.

Similar sentiments were expressed by Commission XI member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Anis Byarwati. She emphasised that the strengthening of Pancasila values and nationalism must be carried out consistently and contextually, especially among students.

“Young people are guardians of the nation’s future. Understanding the 4 Pillars of the MPR RI is not merely rote memorisation of norms, but must be manifested in attitudes of tolerance, a spirit of unity, and social responsibility in daily life,” she explained.

The enthusiasm of participants was evident from active interaction during the discussion session which addressed national challenges in the digital era, political literacy, and the role of students in safeguarding national unity and integrity.

Through this activity, Binawan University reaffirmed its role as a higher education institution that is not only oriented towards developing academic competence, but also towards building character and strengthening the national outlook of Indonesia’s young generation.
