Bank Indonesia (BI) Tasikmalaya, together with the West Java Economic Society (WJES), has reinforced its commitment to making the southern corridor of West Java a new engine of economic growth. Through a strategic forum held in Priangan Timur on Thursday (18/6/2026), stakeholders agreed that strengthening the region’s leading potentials and sectoral integration are key to transformation.

Deputy Head of the Bank Indonesia Tasikmalaya Representative Office, Azhar Livaldy Setyawigoena, stressed that cross-regional and cross-sector synergy is crucial to creating closer economic linkages. “More solid collaboration is expected to connect the potential of each area to support the shared development agenda,” Azhar said.

Amidst global dynamics, the economy of the Priangan Timur region has shown significant resilience. Based on data presented at the forum, the region’s economic growth remains on a positive trajectory with controlled price stability.

During a panel session, a number of experts and regional heads highlighted the importance of connectivity. Tasikmalaya Regent Cecep Nurul Yakin emphasised that the construction of the Getaci Toll Road is strategic infrastructure that will accelerate mobility and the downstream processing of the agricultural sector. Similarly, Pangandaran Regent Citra Pitriyami assessed that accessibility is key to expanding the economies of scale in tourism.

BI West Java Province Expert Economist, Siti Muarrofah, added that a dynamic economic environment requires adaptive and measured policy responses. Meanwhile, Fithra Faisal Hastiadi from the Government Communication Agency suggested using data science to monitor prices and supply in order to maintain the purchasing power of the middle class.

Innovation is also coming from the City of Banjar. Mayor Sudarsono revealed plans to build a 100 MW Solar Power Plant (PLTS) as a strategic step to strengthen the region’s economic structure through energy self-sufficiency.

Through strong integration between academics, practitioners, and government, WJES 2026 is expected to produce applicable policy recommendations capable of propelling southern West Java into an inclusive and sustainable economic zone for the welfare of the community.
