BI states that several sectors still have significant room for financing
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia (BI) states that several sectors still have significant room for financing from credit facilities that have been approved by banks but have not yet been utilised by businesses. Senior Deputy Governor of BI Destry Damayanti, during a policy dialogue session at the Kick Off for the Acceleration of Intermediation Indonesia (PINISI) in Jakarta on Monday, said that this condition is reflected in the high ratio of undisbursed loans in several sectors. “There are some sectors where the undisbursed loan ratio to the sectoral ceiling is much higher than the average. What does that mean? There is still much room for banks or those sectors to obtain financing from banking institutions,” Destry said. She mentioned sectors with large financing potential, including agriculture, business services, construction, as well as transportation and logistics. In general, undisbursed loans refer to credit facilities that have been approved by the bank but have not yet been disbursed or utilised by the debtor. This condition indicates that there are still open opportunities for increasing credit distribution to the real sectors. “This is where PINISI comes in; we are trying to match the financing needs of corporations and consumers with the funding side from banks,” she stated.
