The Indonesian government is rolling out the Hari Raya aid (BHR) policy for online motorcycle taxi drivers and app-based couriers ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026. Labour Minister Yassierli has confirmed that the aid for registered and active online motorcycle taxi drivers and couriers over the past 12 months must be distributed no later than seven days before Eid al-Fitr 2026, and he has urged companies to disburse the funds even earlier if possible.

The Hari Raya aid is to be provided by application companies to formally registered drivers and couriers who have been active in the past 12 months, in the form of cash with a minimum amount of 25% of their average net income over the past 12 months. This represents an increase from last year’s 20% contribution.

The Labour Minister also requested that application companies be transparent in calculating the amount of aid received by drivers and couriers. He emphasised that the provision of Hari Raya aid does not eliminate other welfare support that application companies have previously provided in accordance with applicable regulations.

The government has also called on governors throughout the regions to encourage application companies within their jurisdictions to provide Hari Raya aid, with heads of labour affairs departments tasked with monitoring the implementation of this circular.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto revealed that the total Hari Raya aid for online motorcycle taxi drivers in 2026 will reach IDR 220 billion, a significant increase compared to the previous year. The number of aid recipients this year is approximately 850,000 partners or online motorcycle taxi drivers.

The distribution plan has been discussed through intensive communication with ride-hailing application operators, with Airlangga noting that the operators’ commitment is reflected in their representatives’ attendance at the meeting. The previous year’s total BHR was in the range of IDR 105–110 billion.

From major operators such as GoTo and Grab, each company allocated IDR 50 billion last year, which has now increased to IDR 100–110 billion this year, with approximately 400,000 driver partners per operator receiving benefits. Maxim, another application company, will distribute BHR to 51,000 partners this year, a sharp increase from approximately 1,000 partners last year. InDrive is also providing BHR to approximately 500 partners.
