Within the modules, they cover various materials on meeting animal-based and plant-based protein intake, healthy eating patterns, and strengthening understanding of balanced nutrition for school-age children. Jayapura (ANTARA) – The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has asked all Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) in Papua to implement 23 nutrition education modules, as part of strengthening the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG).

Deputy for Promotion and Cooperation at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Gunalan, in Jayapura, on Friday, said the 23 nutrition education modules would serve as a guide for field officers in delivering education concerning balanced nutrition to communities, schools, and programme beneficiaries.

‘The aim of the modules we provide is to become a guide for officers so that education can also be given to the wider public, so that the adequacy of nutrition can be felt more broadly, not only for beneficiaries,’ he said after opening the Dissemination of the Animal and Plant Protein Deepening Module in Jayapura.

According to Gunalan, strengthening nutrition education is important so that the public not only receives nutritious food, but also understands the importance of healthy eating patterns and daily nutritional needs.

‘In the modules, they cover various materials on the fulfilment of animal-based and plant-based protein, healthy consumption patterns, and strengthening understanding of balanced nutrition for school-age children,’ he said.

He explained that his side hopes that in the future every SPPG in Papua can present more diverse nutritious menu options, especially using Papua local foods, thereby increasing student interest and enthusiasm in participating in the Free Nutritious Meals Programme.

‘We want children to feel happy to receive nutritious meals so that the programme runs optimally and has an impact on improving the health quality of the younger generation,’ he said.

He added that the agency, together with the regional government, continues to strengthen officers’ capacity and socialisation to the community to support the success of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme in Papua.
