BGN Temporarily Halts Two Nutrition Service Units in South Sulawesi Due to Late MBG Delivery
Jakarta — The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has temporarily halted operations at two Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) in South Sulawesi due to delayed delivery of school meals (MBG) extending into evening hours.
The two affected units are SPPG Biringkanaya Sudiang 2 in Makassar City and SPPG Bungoro Samalewa 1 in Pangkajene and Kepulauan Regency (Pangkep).
Operations at both units have been suspended effective 16 March 2026 pending the outcome of further investigation.
The decision follows complaints and initial investigation by BGN into alleged lapses in quality control procedures and operational readiness in field distribution operations.
Monitoring findings revealed that raw materials were not prepared and packaging processes failed to comply with standard operating procedures (SOP). This resulted in delayed distribution of MBG packets to several beneficiary schools, with one instance seeing distribution occur only in the evening.
Nanik S Deyang, Deputy Head of BGN, emphasised that the agency takes any disruption to MBG programme implementation seriously as it affects direct service to beneficiary students in schools.
“The MBG programme is a strategic state programme that concerns public trust. Therefore, every field implementer is obligated to execute SOP strictly, particularly in food safety and distribution timeliness,” Nanik stated.
“We are taking decisive action by temporarily halting SPPG operations to conduct comprehensive evaluation of distribution management, raw material management, and field operational readiness,” she added.
BGN has ensured that meal packages not distributed on the day of the incident will not be redistributed if their quality has deteriorated. Instead, distribution will resume the following day with replacement of unsuitable food items, whilst simultaneously conducting training and evaluation of SPPG management to prevent similar incidents.
