BGN States Electric Motorcycles to Reach Remote Areas and Narrow Alleys, Will Be Distributed Across All Regions
JAKARTA - Deputy Head of BGN for Operational Affairs in Nutrition Fulfilment, Sony Sonjaya, stated that in the future, the procurement of electric motorcycles to support the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme will be distributed to all regions in Indonesia.
Sony explained that the procurement of these two-wheeled vehicles is purely aimed at ensuring the smooth operation of MBG in areas difficult to reach by four-wheeled vehicles.
“For all regions, especially remote areas, including schools in Jakarta that are located in alleys,” said Sony after the event marking One Year of the Free Nutritious Meals Journey in Community Empowerment, at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (16/4/2026).
Therefore, Jakarta is one of the regions that will not be left out in receiving BGN’s electric motorcycles.
“When quick coordination is needed, cars cannot enter (the alleys), motorcycles are faster and can reach them,” he said.
Meanwhile, regarding public concerns about the potential for budget deviations in the procurement of electric motorcycles, Sony assured that all stages are proceeding in accordance with regulations.
“If there is any deviation, it will certainly fall under the purview of law enforcement. However, we are confident that the procurement has gone through the proper goods and services procurement process,” he emphasised.
Dadan added that until the end of the opportunity period on 20 March 2026, the supplier was only able to complete 85.01 per cent, or 21,801 units, out of the 25,644 units contracted.
Dadan also denied information claiming that the number of electric motorcycle procurements reached 70,000 units.
He described the electric motorcycles as domestically produced works with a Domestic Component Level (TKDN) of 48.5 per cent, manufactured in Citeurup, Bogor, West Java.
The function of these electric motorcycles is to assist SPPG heads with daily mobility.
The price per motorcycle is Rp 42 million per unit, compared to Rp 52 million on the market.
