BGN Says Rp6 Million Per Day Incentive Is Granted Equally to All SPPGs to Improve MBG Quality
BGN says Rp6 million per day incentive is given equally to all partners of the Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) to improve the quality of the Program Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG). Deputy Head of BGN, Sony Sanjaya, explained that initially the incentive was provided in the form of rent to cover facilities built by the community, namely land for the building, cooking equipment, or dining utensils. ‘It has been charged Rp2,000 per portion. Then it was observed that many people competed to increase beneficiaries to up to 4,000 or 4,200. Because multiplied by Rp2,000, that amounts to Rp8 million or more per day; some were smaller. This difference was then reevaluated so that the final flat incentive is Rp6 million per day and the standard is 3,000 beneficiaries,’ Sony said, as quoted by Antara, Friday, 6 March 2026. He emphasised that SPPG are allowed to provide to 2,500 beneficiaries if the partner or SPPG has a head cook. ‘Why serve many in quantity, when we emphasise quality? So we reduce the number of beneficiaries; the aim is to improve quality,’ he said. He also urged each SPPG to firmly reject ingredients whose quality does not meet the standards or are not fit for consumption. ‘Most food safety incidents occur because SOPs are not followed. For example, if at 6pm fish is sent and the delivering officer does not check which is fresh, and if that is done correctly, and there is blue chicken for instance, it can be rejected,’ he explained. In addition to quality or nutritional content, BGN is committed to continually improving the dynamics to raise MBG quality. ‘We do this so that everything is truly perfect, because all of it can be good when it goes through a process. We continue to conduct studies and evaluations, including suspending SPPG-SPPG whose facilities are not complete, thereby leading to such incidents (food poisoning),’ he said.
