BGN Requests SPPG to Provide BPJS Employment Insurance for All Employees
Jakarta, VIVA – The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has emphasised the importance of labour protection for volunteers and workers at Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) as part of strengthening governance in the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG).
Each SPPG is requested to provide employment insurance to all volunteers and workers. This is because, in implementing the programme, they work daily under high-risk conditions.
“In accordance with the Head of BGN Decision Number 401.1 of 2025, every foundation is obliged to ensure BPJS Employment Insurance for employees and volunteers,” said the Head of the Legal and Public Relations Bureau of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Khairul Hidayati, quoted from an official statement on Thursday, 14 May 2026.
Hidayati added that the operational cost of Rp3,000 paid on a cost basis can also be used to fund BPJS Employment Insurance participation for volunteers.
“The operational cost of Rp3,000 currently paid on a cost basis is one of the uses for paying volunteers’ BPJS Employment Insurance participation. Therefore, this is fundamentally their right. Thus, all volunteers/employees at SPPG are entitled to work accident protection and health insurance,” she stressed.
According to her, this protection represents the state’s presence in safeguarding the implementers of the MBG Programme in the field. Through collaboration between BGN and BPJS Employment Insurance, SPPG workers are said to receive various forms of protection, from work accident insurance, death insurance, compensation, healthcare services, to educational scholarships for children.
Hidayati emphasised that labour protection is not only part of administrative policy but also a strategy to maintain the quality of MBG Programme services nationally.
“When workers feel safe and protected, the quality of services will also improve, and ultimately the programme’s sustainability will be better maintained,” she stated.
She also stressed that accelerating SLHS and strengthening labour protection cannot be done alone but requires collaboration among various parties, from central government, local government, Health Offices, BPJS Employment Insurance, BPOM, to SPPG managing foundations.
