Jakarta (ANTARA) — National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Deputy Chief Sony Sonjaya said the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program holds strategic value in shaping the future direction of the Indonesian nation.

“Among the flagship programs, this one (MBG) is at the very top, because at every event and every activity, President Prabowo Subianto always talks about nutritious meals,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.

He explained that when the President speaks about MBG at various state events, it is not merely out of pride in a program, but because there is great value at stake concerning the nation’s future. Therefore, he said, MBG has strategic value that far exceeds a mere food distribution program.

He called on all program implementers to carry out their roles with pride and responsibility. He stressed that every individual involved in the program holds an important position that can have a broad impact on the direction of Indonesia’s future development.

“Therefore, we sit here with great pride. I stand here very proud because I am at a point of activity that can influence and has a very broad spectrum in determining the future of the Indonesian nation. We should be proud,” he said.

At a consolidation meeting with Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) across Lampung Province on Saturday (14/2), Sony urged all parties to commit to making the MBG program a success so it can run optimally and sustainably.

Lampung Province Community Empowerment and Transmigration Agency Head Saeful expressed appreciation to all parties involved in implementing the MBG program in Lampung.

“The greatest appreciation and gratitude to all parties in Lampung Province, from BGN, regional governments, partners, foundations, and Indonesian Development Mobilization Graduates (SPPI) who are working directly on the ground to make the MBG program in Lampung a success,” he said.

As of Tuesday (10/2), approximately 1,007 SPPG units have been established in Lampung, reaching around 2.7 million beneficiaries. Based on field monitoring, food supply conditions in Lampung are relatively stable, prices are steady, and food distribution is largely running in accordance with regulations.
