Gorontalo (ANTARA) - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is evaluating 11 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) in Gorontalo City, Gorontalo Province, which serve as providers for the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG) in the region.

The MBG Regional Coordinator for Gorontalo City, Indah Febriani Ali, stated in Gorontalo on Tuesday that the 11 SPPG units are currently unable to provide services as they remain under temporary suspension.

“The temporary closure of the 11 SPPG units is due to technical installation issues and findings related to food quality,” said Indah.

Of the 11 temporarily suspended SPPG units, she continued, 10 are hampered by problems with the Wastewater Treatment Installation (IPAL), which has yet to complete repairs, preventing the lifting of their suspension status.

In addition to the IPAL issues, according to Indah, there was a notable finding in one SPPG concerning food quality standards, which occurred during the early period of Ramadan 2026.

Complaints about mouldy food at the beginning and end of Ramadan 2026 were directly raised by the school.

Examination results indicated that these findings stemmed from negligence in quality control management at the SPPG level and coordination of orders by the foundation.

She stated that the imposition of sanctions on the involved parties falls under the authority of the central BGN; however, all local findings have been reported to the centre for consideration.

“Currently, there are three new SPPG units in Gorontalo City that are operational to ensure the nutrition fulfilment programme continues,” said Indah Febriani Ali.
