BGN dismisses SPPG chief in East Lampung over suspected sexual assault
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Nutrition Agency (Badan Gizi Nasional, BGN) has dismissed the head of the Nutrition Provision Service Unit (Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi, SPPG) in Tanjung Kesuma, East Lampung Regency, who is suspected of involvement in a case of sexual assault against a child. Deputy Head of BGN Nanik Sudaryati Deyang said the agency would act promptly after receiving an official report on the incident and confirmed that the individual had been detained by police for further legal proceedings. ‘As soon as we received the report and confirmed that the perpetrator had been detained by the police, BGN immediately decided to terminate him from his post as head of the SPPG. We do not tolerate actions that violate the law and demean human dignity,’ Nanik said in Jakarta on Friday. BGN emphasised that it does not tolerate any form of violence or crime against children, especially if carried out by someone involved in the implementation of a public service programme. The case is being treated as serious because it conflicts with the values of integrity and moral responsibility that should be possessed by every public programme operator. ‘BGN respects the legal process conducted by the police. We hope the case can be processed thoroughly so as to deliver justice for the victim and serve as a serious lesson for all parties,’ she said. Nanik said BGN is also continuing to evaluate internal mechanisms for selecting and supervising human resources involved in the operation of the SPPG in various regions. ‘This incident should be a catalyst for us to strengthen the selection process, coaching, and supervision of all programme operators in the field so that integrity, morality, and professionalism remain upheld,’ she added. BGN also confirmed that the MBG Programme in East Lampung Regency continued to operate normally after appointing a replacement to the position of head of the SPPG. Earlier, it was reported that the head of the SPPG Tanjung Kesuma, with the initials DD, was arrested by police for sexually assaulting a nine-year-old student. The incident occurred on 30 January 2026.
