Two nutrition service units (SPPG) in Banten Province were closed by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) after foods were found not to meet standards. The Banten Provincial DPRD reminded that SPPGs must continue to follow the SOP. The two closed SPPGs were SPPG Serang Anyar Kosambironyok and SPPG Lebak Gunungkencana Sukanegara. Secretary of Commission V of the Banten DPRD, Rifky Hermiansyah, urged SPPGs to prioritise quality in accordance with the SOP. ‘With this sanction, going forward SPPGs in Banten should prioritise quality according to the SOP issued by BGN,’ he said, on Thursday (5 February 2026). However, according to Rifky, the MBG Task Force in Banten has been operating well. Yet there is a need for more extensive monitoring of MBG implementation. ‘At present, performance is already maximum and going forward there must be even more comprehensive monitoring by regional coordinators, area coordinators, and sub-district coordinators,’ he said. He noted that the Banten DPRD is monitoring the programme from President Prabowo Subianto to ensure it runs as intended. ‘The Banten DPRD is also frequently conducting monitoring, especially as the public can monitor directly,’ he said. Previously, BGN said around 24,000 SPPGs were already operating. However, as of 3 March 2026 there were 43 SPPGs closed. Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana confirmed that any SPPG found to have non-compliance in operational or food safety aspects would be immediately evaluated and temporarily halted until improvements are made. ‘The principle is not merely to shut down, but to ensure quality and safety of the service. If it meets the standards again, of course we will permit it to operate again,’ he said, cited by Antara.
