BGN closes two MBG kitchens in Banten over unfit menu
Serang — The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has temporarily closed two Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) units in Banten Province after findings that the serving of the Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) menu did not meet quality and suitability for consumption standards. BGN’s Head, Dadan Hindayana, stated in Serang on Tuesday that the action forms part of a stringent evaluation of MBG implementation, particularly during the Ramadan period. ‘Every violation has consequences, every inconsistency will be acted upon,’ he said. The two units halted were located in Serang Regency, namely SPPG Serang Anyar Kosambironyok 2, and in Lebak Regency, namely SPPG Lebak Gunungkencana Sukanegara. He explained that this firm action is not limited to Banten; nationally, 41 other SPPG units across 11 provinces are being acted upon for similar violations related to the standards for menu presentation. According to Dadan, the MBG programme is not merely a food distribution agenda but a government endeavour that places great emphasis on quality standards, food safety, and ensuring appropriate nutrition for the public. BGN, through the SidakBGN Investigation Team, is strengthening oversight by opening a reporting channel for the public. Citizens who find discrepancies in menu presentation or distribution problems can report via the official website or the Instagram account @sidakbgn. This step is taken as the institution’s commitment to transparency and to maintaining public trust in the government’s strategic programme.
