BGN Clarifies It Receives Only Rp268 Trillion Budget for MBG, Not Rp335 Trillion
The Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Dadan Hindayana, has expressed full commitment from his agency to manage the budget transparently and with a focus on direct benefits to the public. Based on the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) allocation, BGN receives funding of Rp268 trillion, not Rp335 trillion.
“The budget is based on the APBN law; BGN receives a budget of Rp268 trillion. So if anyone says we have a budget of Rp335 trillion, that is not true,” Dadan emphasised in his statement on Monday, 30 March 2026.
He explained that the Rp335 trillion figure known to the public originates from the Standby Fund of BA BUN (State General Treasurer Budget Section), which is a presidential policy for a reserve fund of Rp67 trillion.
As much as 93 percent of the total APBN allocation of Rp268 trillion managed by BGN is allocated for government assistance in the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG).
Dadan explained that the majority of this budget is used to support the operations of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) across Indonesia.
From Rp249 trillion, 70 percent is used to purchase raw materials. This benefits farmers, breeders, fishermen, SMEs, and others. 20 percent is used for operations such as electricity, vehicle rentals, including volunteer salaries.
To date, more than 1.2 million SPPG volunteers have been reached nationwide, earning between Rp2.4 million and Rp3.2 million per month.
“The majority of our budget is directly channelled to the MBG programme, so the benefits are truly felt by the community,” said Dadan.
BGN also pays attention to the welfare of volunteers who are an important part of the MBG distribution chain, with incentives adjusted to the workload in the field.
With a budget composition focused on meeting direct needs, BGN emphasises that the MBG programme is designed not only as a nutritional intervention but also as an instrument to strengthen the local economy through the absorption of raw materials and labour.
BGN will continue to ensure that budget management is carried out accountably, effectively, and provides real impact for improving the nutritional quality of the Indonesian people.
