Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Sonny Sanjaya has strengthened coordination with the Indonesian National Police (Polri)’s Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Task Force and the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) to oversee the handling of alleged illegal trading of SPPG points reported in several regions.

This follows an increase in public reports of scams where individuals posing as BGN officials or claiming connections to them offered to process SPPG points in exchange for money.

“Today, I coordinated with the Polri MBG Task Force and communicated with the Chief of Bareskrim and the Director of General Criminal Affairs regarding numerous reports from several regions where complainants were victims of scams by individuals claiming to be close to BGN officials, even posing as BGN officials themselves, offering to register SPPG points for a fee,” Sonny said at the Polri Bareskrim building in South Jakarta on Monday (25 May 2026).

Sonny stated that police have handled several reports, including in West Java where suspects were apprehended. Coordination is also ongoing with police in Tangerang and East Lombok as more victim information emerges.

He added that coordination with the Polri MBG Task Force aims to strengthen regional police responses in receiving public reports, processing cases, and uncovering those allegedly exploiting the MBG programme for personal gain.

“This programme must be protected collectively. It is a noble initiative. We cannot allow unscrupulous individuals to exploit its implementation on the ground,” he stressed.

Polri MBG Task Force Chief, Police Inspector General Nurworo Danang, S.I.K., confirmed Polri’s full support for enforcing the law against alleged MBG programme misuse, including SPPG points trading.

He stated that several complaint reports concerning alleged irregularities have been addressed by various provincial police units. Therefore, the public is urged to report any suspected violations or irregularities immediately for appropriate legal follow-up.

“We urge all members of the public to report any violations or irregularities, particularly suspected points trading, to local law enforcement authorities, whether at district or provincial police level,” he said.

Polri considers monitoring the MBG programme crucial as it not only supports public nutrition but also generates economic impact through business activities and improved community welfare.

The coordination between BGN and Polri is expected to expedite report handling, prevent further victims, and ensure strict action against illegal SPPG points practices to safeguard the integrity of the government’s flagship Free Nutritious Meals programme.
