JAKARTA - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has coordinated with the Police’s Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Task Force to address widespread cases of suspected fraud involving the trading of SPPG points.

Retired Inspector General Sony Sanjaya, Deputy Chief of BGN, stated at the Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) headquarters in Jakarta on Monday that the coordination follows numerous cases of SPPG point trading fraud across regions.

“The number of victims of these individuals’ actions is increasing daily. Therefore, I need to coordinate with the Police MBG Task Force, which maintains communication with regional police stations,” he said.

He revealed one significant case reported to the West Java Regional Police, where victims suffered total losses of Rp1.9 billion.

“There were 21 victims, averaging Rp100 million in losses per person,” he added.

Through this coordination, he hopes regional police can help expose individuals exploiting and tarnishing the MBG programme.

“We must safeguard this programme. It is a noble initiative. We cannot allow it to be exploited by irresponsible individuals,” he said.

Meanwhile, Police Major General Nurworo Danang, head of the Police MBG Task Force, stated his full support for legal enforcement against those misusing the MBG programme for personal gain through illegal means.

“Several complaints have already been handled by regional police commands,” he added.

The two-star general also urged the public to report any MBG programme violations or deviations, including SPPG point trading, to local law enforcement.

“Reports should be submitted immediately to local law enforcement authorities, either at the district police station or regional police command, who will follow up and investigate as per regulations,” he said.

One alleged fraud case under the guise of the MBG programme was carried out by a woman from Pondok Permata Housing Estate in Babelan Regency, Bekasi, West Java.

Victims reportedly deposited tens of millions of rupiah. The modus operandi involved promising to set up SPPG units with multi-fold profits.
