BGN and BPOM Sign Cooperation Agreement to Strengthen Oversight of MBG Programme
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) and the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen oversight of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Programme, particularly in terms of food safety.
The agreement follows up on a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions signed on 23 January 2025, which states that both parties agree to use the type two self-managed scheme as the basis for implementing activities.
BGN Head Dadan Hindayana, in his statement in Jakarta on Thursday, explained that the agreement serves as a guideline for both agencies in carrying out their respective duties.
“The aim is to increase commitment and synergy in supporting food safety in the MBG Programme, thereby realising a healthy, intelligent, and high-quality generation towards Golden Indonesia 2045,” he said.
According to him, collaboration with BPOM will strengthen the oversight system from upstream to downstream.
“This synergy is important so that oversight is not merely administrative, but also based on laboratory testing and measurable food safety standards,” Dadan stated.
In the cooperation document, he continued, the scope of collaboration includes developing food testing analysis methods, conducting food oversight and testing, and following up on oversight results.
The technical implementation of the agreement will be further regulated through a type two self-managed contract between the committing officials from the contracting agency and the implementing team from the receiving agency.
The entire process will refer to regulations related to the procurement of goods and services through the self-managed mechanism.
Through this cooperation, the government hopes that food quality and safety oversight in the MBG Programme can operate more optimally and provide direct benefits to the wider community.
