Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The use of ‘jockey’ services for filling out the Annual Tax Return (SPT) through the Coretax system is increasingly sought after by the public on social media. From difficulties in accessing the system to wanting a ‘nil’ reporting status, these are the reasons the public uses such jockey services.

Tax consultant from Botax Consulting Indonesia, Raden Agus Suparman, warns of fatal risks for taxpayers who hand over access to their accounts to unofficial parties.

According to him, using jockeys without a special power of attorney opens up significant opportunities for misuse. This is because the jockey can have full access to the taxpayer’s account in the Coretax system without clear limitations.

“The risks for users of annual SPT jockey services are very fatal. First, because there is no special power of attorney, the jockey can do anything without the taxpayer’s knowledge,” said Raden to CNBC Indonesia, quoted on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

He explained that there are at least three main risks that must be wary of. First, without a special power of attorney, the jockey can make any data changes or reports without the taxpayer’s knowledge.

Second, the competence of the jockey is also a major question mark. According to him, someone who truly understands taxation should have proof of expertise, such as a tax brevet certificate or educational background in taxation.

“If they only learn from social media, it can be assured that their tax understanding is not complete. Thus, what is reported could actually be a mistake even though in the end an Electronic Receipt Proof (BPE) is issued as proof that the Annual SPT has been filed,” he said.

Third, the most fatal risk is the potential for misuse of personal data. Raden emphasised that the Coretax account is connected to various sensitive data of the taxpayer.

Starting from the Population Identification Number (NIK), Family Card number (KK), mother’s maiden name, address according to ID card, to asset and liability information.

“If the jockey has malicious intent, it is very easy to do so. Because the Coretax account is already connected to population data,” he said.
