Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued a coastal flooding (rob) warning for Indonesian coastal regions, effective from 12-27 March 2026.

According to BMKG’s official Instagram account, the occurrence of a New Moon phase on 19 March 2026 and Perigee on 22 March 2026 has the potential to increase maximum sea level heights. Based on water level monitoring data and tidal surge predictions, coastal flooding (rob) may occur in the following Indonesian coastal regions:

  • Dates: 18-21 March 2026

Locations: Padang City, Padang Pariaman District, Pesisir Selatan District, Agam District, Pasaman Barat District, and Mentawai Islands (Pagai, Siberut and Sipora Islands)

  • Dates: 23-26 March 2026

Locations: Eastern coast of Tanjung Jabung Barat District and Tanjung Jabung Timur District
