Beware of baby hoax

In connection with the deceitful practice of a sale of a baby
in the name of Budikemuliaan Maternity Hospital (RSB), we deem it
necessary to caution the public of the following case.

On Feb. 15, Feb. 23 and March 14, a woman calling herself Erni
told three married but childless women that she had just given
birth to a baby but she could not afford to take her baby home.
She offered to sell the baby at RSB for Rp 700,000 to the first
victim, Rp 800,000 to the second and Rp 500,000 to the third.

We herewith would like to inform the public that our hospital
has never kept any baby whose parents cannot afford to pay the
hospital medical costs. The hospital always insists that mothers
take their babies home and later pay the outstanding cost in
installments, according to the parents' financial position.

In the case that a baby is left by its mother (usually without
notice), then we take the following procedures: If no one claims
the baby at the hospital within 14 days, we begin to trace the
parents through records at the hospital. If we fail to locate
their address, we place advertisements in newspapers for three
consecutive days. If we get no response, the hospital then gives
the baby to the Social Services Office in Central Jakarta in
accordance with prevailing regulations.

The process of adopting a baby is carried out by a child care
institution which is appointed by the Social Services Office.

We further appeal to the public to take note of this mode of
deceit.
