Besides WFH Appeal, Government Requests Private Offices to Implement Energy-Saving Operations
The government has decided on a work-from-home (WFH) scheme for private sector employees to save energy. The government is urging the implementation of a wise energy utilisation programme at workplaces.
“Implementing an energy utilisation optimisation programme at the workplace,” said Minister of Manpower Yassierli during a press conference on Wednesday (1/4/2026).
Yassierli explained several forms of energy saving at the workplace. Some energy-saving actions include the use of work equipment to monitoring electricity consumption.
A. Utilisation of more energy-efficient technology and work equipment
B. Strengthening the culture of saving electricity, fuel, and other energy wisely
C. Controlling and monitoring electricity, fuel, and other energy consumption through measurable operational policies
Furthermore, he also urged workers and labour unions to create plans related to this energy utilisation optimisation programme. Here are the appeals for workers to labour unions:
A. Designing and implementing an energy utilisation optimisation programme
B. Building collective awareness of wise energy use
C. Encouraging joint innovation to create productive and more adaptive work methods in energy use.
Previously, in a press conference on Tuesday (31/3/2026), the government had detailed the WFH rule for one day per week for civil servants. WFH for ASN has been decided to apply every Friday.
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said that WFH for private sector employees will adjust to the characteristics and needs of each business sector.
“The implementation of work from home for the private sector will be further regulated in the circular letter of the Minister of Manpower,” said Airlangga.
