An analyst of security and defence policy in Vienna, Wolfgang Pusztai, told Al Jazeera that the situation in Iran is part of an information war being played by the United States and Israel to send a message to Iran—do not expect this to end in one or two weeks. “They want to weaken the morale of the IRGC and all other parties fighting against Israeli and US strikes with the hope that they will surrender,” he said. He added that Iran wants to send messages through missiles toward Israel and through ongoing attacks on various military and civilian US facilities in Gulf countries that they can also continue the war without a finite end. “So this is part of the information war. We will see in the coming days and weeks whether this will truly lead to an end to the war sooner or to a longer campaign,” he concluded.
