Besides Kalisari Ward Head, Two Other Ward Officials Also Involved in AI Photo Case on JAKI
The Jakarta Inspectorate states that the Ward Head and two other Kalisari Ward officials were involved in deviations in handling citizen complaints regarding AI-generated photo uploads on the JAKI application. The Inspectorate recommends deactivating the Kalisari Ward Head and providing guidance to the involved personnel. The two individuals, namely the Head of the Government Section and the Head of the Economy and Development Section, are recommended to receive disciplinary sanctions and guidance. However, the roles of these two section heads have not yet been disclosed. Jakarta Provincial Inspector Dhany Sukma explained that the examination was conducted systematically, referring to government internal audit standards to uncover facts and determine necessary follow-up actions. “The Jakarta Provincial Inspectorate has completed the examination of alleged deviations in handling public complaints in Kalisari Ward. The results of this examination serve as the basis for corrective actions and strengthening oversight, so that public complaint handling runs more orderly, accountable, and in accordance with regulations,” Dhany stated in a press release on Tuesday (7/4/2026). Based on the examination results, the Inspectorate has also imposed sanctions in accordance with the general contract terms on three PPSU officers proven to be involved. “This step is part of the bureaucratic reform championed by Governor Pramono Anung. We will continue to strengthen oversight, increase accountability, and ensure that every public complaint is handled honestly, quickly, and accountably. This is not just about sanctions, but also about comprehensive system improvements to prevent similar incidents from recurring,” he added. Previously, Kalisari Ward Head Siti Nurhasanah was temporarily deactivated due to the case of handling reports of illegal parking responded with AI-edited results. The temporary deactivation process is pending the results of the Inspectorate’s examination. “Yes (Kalisari Ward Head deactivated), it’s in process. Later at the Inspectorate,” said East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin in Pulogadung, East Jakarta, quoted by Antara, on Tuesday (7/4). Munjirin explained that the decision was taken as part of efforts to maintain the integrity of public services, particularly in app-based reporting. Munjirin has not confirmed how long the deactivation of the Kalisari Ward Head will last. “For how long the deactivation, we’ll see the Inspectorate’s examination results,” he said.
