Benoa Port in Bali Begins Serving Lebaran 2026 Return Travel Surge
Denpasar, Bali — Benoa Port in Denpasar, Bali has begun serving the 2026 Lebaran homecoming season using the motor vessel fleet operated by PT Pelni destined for Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB).
“The total number of departing passengers on the first day of the homecoming surge reached 894 people,” said Arfah Yusuf, Head of Pelni’s Denpasar Branch, in Denpasar, Bali, on Saturday.
The majority of travellers are heading to routes serving Bima in NTB and Waingapu, Sumba, in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT).
Passengers are being transported using the KM Awu vessel, which has an increased capacity of 1,500 passengers.
The second departure is scheduled for Tuesday, 17 March 2026, to be served by KM Tilongkabila, sailing to Lembar and Bima in NTB as well as Labuan Bajo in NTT.
The second departure is estimated to transport approximately 860 passengers based on ticket sales records.
During the homecoming period, six vessel calls are planned to transport travellers. The Lebaran transport service at Benoa Port is being served by three vessels: KM Awu, Tilongkabila, and Binaiya. Meanwhile, KM Leuser has been redeployed to assist with heavier passenger flows during the Lebaran homecoming surge at other ports.
Each of these vessels has a capacity of 1,000 passengers, which is increased by 50 per cent during the Lebaran homecoming period, bringing the total to 1,500 passengers.
These vessels are able to transport only passengers and their personal belongings and cannot transport motor vehicles.
To stimulate the economy and help alleviate the burden on homecoming travellers, the government is providing a stimulus in the form of a 30 per cent discount on basic sea transport fares during the 2026 Lebaran homecoming season.
