The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of Belu Police have detained a suspect with the initials PK, a former Indonesian Idol contestant, in connection with alleged sexual abuse of a child. The case has been registered under case number LP/B/12/I/2025/SPKT/Polres Belu/Polda NTT.

The detention of PK took place on Wednesday, 11 March at approximately 01:39 WITA, following a temporary suspension of detention due to health reasons whilst the suspect received hospital treatment. Upon confirmation that the suspect’s health condition had improved, investigators lifted the detention suspension and proceeded with formal detention at Belu Police Detention Centre.

Belu Police Chief AKBP I Gede Eka Putra Astawa emphasised that child protection remains a priority, stating: “The protection of children is our priority. Anyone proven guilty will be processed according to applicable law.”

With the detention of PK, a total of three suspects in the alleged child sexual abuse case are now formally held at Belu Police Detention Centre. The two other suspects, identified as RM and RS, were detained previously in connection with the same case.

The police chief stressed that legal proceedings are being conducted professionally, transparently, and in accordance with applicable legal provisions. Investigators are currently following up on instructions from the prosecutor’s office to complete the case file before referral to the next stage.

“We continue to prioritise professionalism and ensure that all stages of the legal process are conducted accountably and in accordance with procedures in order to achieve justice for the victim and legal certainty for all parties,” Astawa stated.

The suspect’s full name is Petrus Yohannes Debrito Armando Jaga Kota, known as Piche Kota. The alleged incident reportedly occurred in January at a hotel in Atambua, Belu Regency, where the victim is said to have been in an allegedly impaired state of consciousness during the alleged sexual abuse.

The police chief also appealed to the public not to readily believe hoaxes or unverified information regarding the case, and to trust the police’s legal process. “We ask the public to remain calm and support the legal process so that justice for the victim can be realised,” he concluded.
