BEKASI – Kusumo Wahyu Bintoro, the Metro Police Chief of Bekasi City, has urged residents planning to travel home for Eid to report to their local neighbourhood administrators before leaving their homes.

According to Kusumo, this measure is important to facilitate neighbourhood security monitoring, particularly for homes left unoccupied by their owners during the holiday period.

“We will also communicate with the RT/RW so that anyone leaving their home reports it and advises when they plan to return,” Kusumo said when contacted on Friday (13 March 2026).

In addition to notifying neighbourhood administrators, police will also document residents travelling home through district-level police posts and military personnel.

“We will collect data through the district police and military liaison officers regarding which residents are undertaking the journey home,” Kusumo said.

He explained that this measure is intended to strengthen security surveillance in residential areas during the Eid holiday period.

To safeguard vacant homes, Kusumo also requested that residents reinvigorate neighbourhood night patrols through the community security system (siskamling).

“We are asking them to reactivate the siskamling and security posts to protect empty homes,” Kusumo said.

Previously, Bekasi Metro Police had also planned to launch a free vehicle storage service for residents planning to travel home for the holidays.

“Yes, our plan is to provide a vehicle storage service, both at the Police Headquarters and at the Traffic Police office,” Kusumo said.

The facility will be available at the Metro Police Headquarters of Bekasi City in Medan Satria District as well as at the Bekasi City Traffic Police office in South Bekasi District.

This service is intended for residents travelling home using public transport such as buses or trains, so they do not need to worry about leaving their vehicles at home.

According to him, the vehicle storage process will be handled through the police equipment and infrastructure division with comprehensive vehicle documentation.

“We will request a photocopy of the vehicle registration document and driving licence, as well as their personal data (identity card) for completion when collecting the vehicle,” he said.

He hopes that the security operations for this year’s holiday travel can proceed smoothly.

“So I hope that during this operation we can proceed without any difficulties,” he added.
