Bekasi regent

Bekasi regent

From Media Indonesia

I read with interest a Sept. 18 article about the regent of
Bekasi refusing to admit any wrongdoings or problems in his
administration while addressing 163 legislative candidates, some
of whom might become his partners in carrying out development
programs in his regency.

How could he make such a statement to the legislative body,
which is meant to monitor executive positions such as the
regent's. Bekasi legislators represent local interests and speak
for the people. They are supposed to point out any deviations
within the administration. The regent should not try to limit
their responsibilities.

Instead, those holding executive positions should work with
legislators for common goals in the interest of the people.
