Bekasi Regency's Baznas Targets Rp3 Billion in Zakat Fitrah Collections for 2026
Bekasi Regency — The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) of Bekasi Regency, West Java, has set a target of Rp3 billion for zakat fitrah collections throughout the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah (2026) by optimising all collection sources in the area.
“Last year we collected Rp2.09 billion, and this year we are targeting an increase to Rp3.03 billion,” said the Chairman of Baznas Bekasi Regency, KH Aminnulloh, in Cikarang on Sunday.
He stated that the 2025 zakat fitrah collection was achieved through a number of sources, including government agency staff, Zakat Collection Units (UPZ) within educational institutions, and contributions from the private sector and the general public.
This achievement provides a strong foundation for raising the collection target this year so that the benefits of zakat fitrah can be felt more broadly by mustahik (eligible recipients) across the various areas of Bekasi Regency.
He explained that the strategy for achieving the target involves strengthening the role of regional government treasurers serving as UPZ coordinators, optimising educational institution UPZ units, and expanding collaboration with companies and private sector partners already in cooperation agreements.
These measures are expected to broaden the reach of zakat fitrah collection so that the process can run more systematically, transparently, and accountably, whilst also meeting this year’s target.
“Collection through government agencies is handled by treasurers acting as UPZ, in schools through school UPZ and regional coordinators, and from the private sector and general public,” he said.
In addition to strengthening its UPZ network, Baznas Bekasi Regency has also opened eight service counters at a number of strategic locations to make it easier for the public to fulfil their zakat fitrah obligations.
The service counters have been placed at Aeon Mall Deltamas, the Regional Government Mosque, Baznas Microfinance Desa (BMD) Cibitung, several companies, universities, and the Cikarang Public Service Mall (MPP), all of which have high levels of public footfall.
“Each counter is staffed by two officers from among Baznas scholarship recipients whom we have trained to ensure professional service,” he said.
Aminnulloh added that his office would also hold socialisation sessions for all UPZ units from government agencies, schools, foundations, and companies to align understanding of zakat fitrah collection and reporting mechanisms.
“We will invite all UPZ units for socialisation so that this year’s zakat fitrah collection is more optimal and coordinated,” he said.
Regarding distribution, he noted that in the previous year zakat fitrah had been distributed to 46 village-level distribution points on a rotating basis as a form of equitable benefit sharing across the entire Bekasi Regency.
“This year we are targeting a minimum of 50 distribution points, with priority given to flood-affected areas across approximately 14 sub-districts,” he said.
His office also urged members of the public who find the monetary zakat fitrah amount of Rp45,500 this year burdensome to fulfil their obligation with 3.5 litres or 2.5 kilogrammes of rice, in accordance with Islamic jurisprudence.
“And for mosques or institutions, we urge them to promptly establish official UPZ units in accordance with Law No. 23 of 2011 for professional zakat management with clear legal standing,” he said.
