The Bekasi Regency Government is committed to saving a number of assets located in Bekasi City as an effort to boost regional revenue (PAD) by regaining control and making them economically viable.

“The issue of assets in Bekasi City is also one of our priorities to immediately save and regain control, given that these assets have the potential to be commercialized to boost PAD,” said Acting Regent of Bekasi, Asep Surya Atmaja, as quoted by Antara on Wednesday (February 25).

The Acting Regent explained that efforts to save regional assets in Bekasi City had begun with the formation of a Regional Asset Task Force (BMD). The performance of this task force is being continuously optimized to be able to restore control of these assets so that they can generate income for the region.

“The BMD Task Force already exists; it just needs to be maximized. In Bekasi City, there are 40 hectares of our assets. If they can be saved, they can be leased, and the proceeds will go into the regional treasury for regional development,” he said.

Asep Surya admitted that under his current leadership, the regional government is focusing on improvements in various sectors, including exploring policies that do not burden the budget, given that the budgeting process had already begun when he took office.

“Regarding regional finances, we must truly innovate. We need to identify what potential can be maximized as a source of regional income,” he said.

He believes that the location of regional assets in Bekasi City is quite strategic and has high economic value if managed properly through optimal BMD management. Support from all elements of society is needed to ensure that asset management efforts run effectively.

“We need the support of all parties so that the government can run well and development for the community can be realized to the maximum,” he said.

Not yet optimal

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Bekasi Regency DPRD, Ade Sukron Hanas, said that the budget for the arrangement and management of BMD has actually been allocated since the last few years but has not been optimal in increasing regional income.

“The budget for the BMD task force has been available for the past few years. However, its performance needs to be maximized,” he said.

Ade Sukron also highlighted that there are still many government-owned land areas that have not been equipped with certificates as proof of ownership, so they cannot be optimally utilized as one of the sources of regional income.

“Ideally, all assets should be equipped with proof of ownership so that if there is a lawsuit, the government has legal strength in court. This is also important when managing them as a contributor to regional revenue, given that legal validity is important,” he said.

Based on data from the Regional Financial Information System (SIKD), the projected 2026 Bekasi Regency Regional Budget (APBD) comes from regional revenue of IDR 7.280 trillion, while the realization of revenue up to last weekend was only IDR 352.68 billion, or 4.84%.

The regional government needs to optimize revenue through various programs and innovations. One of them is through the commercialization of assets, in addition to other sources such as tax and levy receipts, central transfer funds, and other legitimate revenues. (AK/I-1)
