Bekasi Regency Government Suspends Civil Servant in Drug Case
The Bekasi Regency Government in West Java has temporarily suspended a State Civil Apparatus (ASN) individual with the initials N alias I after he became entangled in a case of alleged methamphetamine abuse and distribution, as a firm measure in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations. Secretary of the Bekasi Regency Personnel and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM), Bennie Yulianto Iskandar, stated that the ASN, who holds the status of Government Employee with a Work Agreement (PPPK), has been suspended while awaiting the ongoing legal process. “Currently, his status is temporarily suspended, and regarding further action, we will also consult with the central National Civil Service Agency (BKN) to request technical consideration,” Bennie said in Cikarang on Friday. He explained that the temporary dismissal was carried out as a form of compliance with civil service regulations, specifically Law Number 20 of 2023 concerning ASN, which regulates apparatus personnel undergoing legal proceedings. The suspect’s employment status has not been permanently revoked until a legally binding court decision is reached. This means the individual’s rights and obligations remain subject to applicable regulations. “However, during this temporary suspension, the individual’s additional income allowances have been stopped, and he will not receive a full salary, only a portion according to the applicable rules,” he said. Bennie stated that a further decision regarding the ASN’s employment status will be determined after the judicial process is completed and there is a court ruling that has legally binding force. “Later, once there is a legally binding verdict, it will be followed up in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations,” he stated. The Bekasi Regency Government affirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity and professionalism of its apparatus by handling any ASN suspected of violating the law objectively and in accordance with applicable regulations. “This step is part of efforts to realise clean governance with integrity, free from narcotics abuse and other legal violations within the government apparatus,” he said. Police on Friday (29/5/2026) arrested the man with the initials N alias I at the Bekasi Regency Government office complex in Sukamahi Village, Central Cikarang District, on suspicion of possessing and storing methamphetamine. He had become a target of officers through direct surveillance at his workplace. “This was the result of case development by officers in the field. During a search, six plastic clip packages containing methamphetamine, one digital scale, and one empty plastic clip pack were found in the perpetrator’s possession,” said Head of Public Relations for the Metro Bekasi Police, AKP Aliyani.
