BEKASI: Officers from the Bekasi Police department destroyed on Saturday 34,000 bottles of liquor that had been confiscated during raids over the past month.
During the destruction of the bottles, alcohol spilled down the road as far as 300 meters from the police station. The smell of the alcohol disturbed motorists and residents, Tempo News Room reported.
Detectives chief Adj. Comr. Yudi Sinlaeloe said the bottles were confiscated from about 3,000 kiosks whose owners did not have a license to sell alcohol.
"We have detained 12 distributors .... We will continue the raids because alcohol is closely related with the high number of crimes and sexual harassment cases in Bekasi," he said. --JP
