Bekasi Mayor Tri Adhianto Tjahyono attended the opening of the Bekasi City Job Fair 2026, organised by the City Manpower Office (Disnaker) at Mega Bekasi Hypermall on Tuesday (7/7). The two-day event features 50 companies offering a total of 3,500 job vacancies to the public. Public enthusiasm for the 2026 Job Fair was very high. Prior to the event, approximately 7,000 job seekers had registered through the online registration system provided by the Bekasi City Manpower Office. The Mayor commended this year’s job fair, noting it was far better organised compared to previous years. He stated that the implementation of a digital system has made the job-seeking process more orderly and efficient. “This year’s Job Fair is more organised. Job seekers no longer need to bring hardcopy CVs; they simply register online. At the venue, companies only need to provide a barcode to access all the applicants’ requirements and documents,” Tri Adhianto said in a statement on Wednesday (8/7). The 3,500 job vacancies come from 50 companies operating in various sectors, including manufacturing, services, and hospitality. The Mayor also noted that this year’s Job Fair pays special attention to persons with disabilities. Around 300 job opportunities have been provided by several companies for persons with disabilities, implementing the mandate of regulations concerning inclusive employment opportunities. “We are grateful that this year, around 300 job opportunities are available for our friends with special needs. Going forward, we will continue to facilitate this, including through training, so that more companies comply with the provision of job opportunities for persons with disabilities,” he said. Tri added that the Bekasi City Government, together with the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), has also discussed the possibility of holding additional similar fairs if budget support allows. This aims to provide broader opportunities for new high school and vocational school graduates, who typically begin actively seeking employment a few months after graduation. “If possible, we want to add a Job Fair at the end of the year, around November or December, so the timing aligns with the needs of new graduates entering the workforce,” he stated. Furthermore, the city government is preparing an apprenticeship programme targeted to commence next year. The programme will prioritise Bekasi City residents and involve companies operating within the city. “This apprenticeship programme is one of the efforts to ensure prospective workers gain experience before being fully recruited by companies. After the apprenticeship, the hope is that they can be directly hired or have their contracts extended according to the company’s needs,” Tri explained. Meanwhile, Head of the Bekasi City Manpower Office Dzikron stated that employment conditions in Bekasi City continue to show a positive trend. Although some companies have implemented layoffs, the number of companies registering Fixed-Term Employment Agreements (PKWT) remains higher, keeping job opportunities open. The Bekasi City Government is optimistic that the open unemployment rate, currently around 7.33%, can be gradually reduced through various job placement programmes, job fairs, and the apprenticeship programme to be developed.
