Bekasi City Government Implements WFH Every Wednesday, Public Services Remain a Priority
The Bekasi City Government has established a work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN), to be implemented every Wednesday. This policy was announced directly by Bekasi Mayor Tri Adhianto Tjahyono during the morning assembly at the City Government Plaza on Monday (30/3).
According to the Mayor, the policy is a follow-up to central government directives regarding efforts to efficiently use fuel amid the impacts of global conflicts. By implementing WFH one day per week, it is hoped that ASN mobility can be reduced, thereby contributing to energy savings.
Nevertheless, Tri Adhianto stressed that this policy must not disrupt services to the public.
He mentioned that several direct service sectors will continue to operate with special arrangements, such as the health department, cleaning and waste transportation services, sanitation, and other areas that directly touch on public needs.
“This WFH policy is part of energy efficiency efforts in line with central government directives. However, I emphasise that public services must remain optimal and must not be disrupted,” he stated.
This policy also results from evaluations following the Mayor’s direct inspection on Thursday (26/3) of several service agencies, such as the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), the Population and Civil Registration Office (Disdukcapil), and the Public Service Mall (MPP).
From those monitoring results, Tri ensured that services to the public must remain the top priority.
“We have directly observed the service conditions in the field. With the existing system, I am confident that services can continue to run well as long as appropriate arrangements are made and continuously evaluated,” he concluded.
The Bekasi City Government is committed to ongoing evaluations of this policy’s implementation. With good management, it is hoped that energy efficiency can be achieved without reducing the quality of public services to the community.
