Beef Prices in Jakarta Reach Rp 160,000 per Kg
Beef prices continue to climb ahead of the Eid al-Fitr celebrations. At Pasar Tomang Barat in Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, beef reached Rp 160,000 per kilogram on H-3 before Eid, an increase from the previous price of Rp 140,000. Trader Adi (37) stated that the rise began on H-7 before Eid. “Currently, the beef price has hit Rp 160,000 per kilogram. That’s been the case since H-7 before Eid,” said Adi on Wednesday, 18 March 2026. Adi added that now almost all cuts of beef are sold at the same price, including thigh and shin portions. “Previously, it was Rp 140,000 to Rp 150,000. Now they’re all the same, Rp 160,000,” he explained. Nevertheless, Adi assessed that the number of buyers this year has slightly decreased compared to the previous year. He suspects this is due to the high beef prices. “Compared to last year, buyers are a bit down. Maybe because the prices now are quite high,” he clarified. He added that last Eid, beef prices were still at Rp 150,000 per kilogram, which was considered more affordable for the public. “At that price, it’s usually busy, with more buyers,” he said. Normally, Adi said, he can sell around 150 kilograms of beef per day, equivalent to 1.5 quintals. However, he assured that the beef supply remains secure without any issues. “I get my supply from the Cakung Slaughterhouse (RPH) managed by Perumda Dharma Jaya, owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government,” he stated. He also predicted a surge in buyers on H-2 to H-1 before Eid. Although, Adi said, it won’t be as crowded as in previous years. “It’s busy, usually H-2 to H-1. Tomorrow, the last day usually,” he remarked.
