Be ware of tax book sellers

JAKARTA (JP): The Ministry of Finance has cautioned the public about the sale of taxation books by unscrupulous individuals posing as ministry officials.

The books are being offered by people claiming they have been assigned by the chief of the ministry's Financial Education and Training Department (BPLK), Soepatmo.

The ministry's Legal Bureau and Public Relations' chief, Agus Haryanto, said their were four books in the set which contain information about presidential decree No. 24 which relates to taxation.

He said the book package cost Rp 3,100,000.

"Judging by the order form, which contains recommendation letters and the identities of the letter senders, who send letters to prospective buyers in the hope that they will purchase the books, it is clear that the letters were written by irresponsible people who are out to deceive the public to make money," Agus said.
