Blora (ANTARA) - The Balai Besar Pelaksanaan Jalan Nasional Jawa Tengah - Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (BBPJN Jateng-DIY) is speeding up the repair work on two stretches of the national roads, namely Jalan Ahmad Yani in Blora Regency, Central Java, to prepare for the Lebaran 2026 exodus.

The planned repairs cover about 1.3 kilometres at a budget of Rp3 billion. The work already carried out has reached around 300 metres, or 23.08 percent, said Arif Agus Setyawan, PPK 3.6 of the Central Java BBPJN Jateng-DIY, in Blora on Thursday.

The repair approach, he said, for minor works involves single-layer asphalt wearing course (AC-WC) following damage caused by extreme weather and high rainfall intensity that has triggered potholes on the road surface.

Some pothole depths reach about seven centimetres with a diameter of 50 centimetres, endangering road users, especially motorcyclists.

He said on-site handling is conducted on a spot-by-spot basis or along the length of the road depending on field conditions. The method used is patching with hot-mix asphalt from AMP with an additive until all damage points are addressed.

The two stretches rehabilitated, he continued, are Jalan Ahmad Yani about 1.3 kilometres long with work valued at around Rp2 billion and Jalan Sudirman about 0.5 kilometres long valued Rp1 billion. On Jalan Sudirman, older asphalt piles were also levelled.

To support accelerated works, one unit of Cold Milling Machine (CMM), a finisher, a tandem roller, a Pneumatic Tire Roller (PTR), an asphalt sprayer, a compressor, and 15 dump trucks were deployed, with more than 100 workers.

During the works, a contraflow system or traffic engineering was implemented to minimise congestion on the road sections. The target is to finish no later than H-10 Eid al-Fitr to ensure safer and more comfortable driving conditions for returning travellers.
