Denpasar, ANTARA – The Denpasar Regional Office of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BBMKG) issued an early warning of potential strong winds over Bali’s waters, reaching up to 25 knots, forecast for 8–11 March 2026. ‘Be aware of the potential for strong winds over the northern and southern Bali waters,’ said Ariantika, a Weather Forecaster for BBMKG Region III in Denpasar, Bali, on Saturday. He explained that wind patterns are moving from the south-west to the west with speeds forecast up to 46 kilometres per hour. With this wind potential, authorities have issued an early warning of high waves up to 2.5 metres, which could occur in the southern Bali Strait, the Badung Strait, the southern waters of Bali and the southern Lombok Strait. BBMKG Denpasar explained that wind and sea state conditions pose risks to maritime safety. Ferry operators are asked to watch for wind speeds reaching 21 knots and waves up to 2.5 metres. Next, tanker operators are advised to be cautious when wind speeds reach 16 knots and waves up to 1.5 metres. Meanwhile, fishermen using small boats are urged to monitor winds exceeding 15 knots, or about 27 kilometres per hour, with waves up to 1.25 metres. The agency urged the public to remain calm but vigilant and to take precautionary measures so daily activities can continue safely and smoothly. They advised the public to monitor the latest information from BMKG, via social media channels @infobmkg, @bmkgbali, contact number (0361)751122 and the Info BMKG app.
