Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, has expressed appreciation for the government’s decision not to adjust the prices of fuel oil (BBM), whether subsidised or non-subsidised. This follows rumours of a BBM price increase on 1 April 2026. Dasco emphasised that the widely circulating rumours of a BBM price hike are untrue.

An official announcement from the Minister of State Secretary has confirmed that BBM prices will remain the same starting tomorrow (1 April).

“The DPR extends its appreciation to the government, which, after communicating with various parties and considering input from various stakeholders including the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, has just been announced by the Minister of State Secretary on behalf of the government that the government has no plans to adjust the prices of subsidised BBM or non-subsidised BBM,” Dasco said at the Parliament Complex in Senayan on Tuesday (31 March).

Dasco revealed that the DPR had monitored vehicle queues at several public fuel filling stations (SPBU) in various regions due to the BBM price increase rumours. However, he assured that President Prabowo Subianto is committed to continuously ensuring the availability of BBM supply.

“The public need not panic, need not queue up, and especially not hoard BBM. From communications with the government, President Prabowo’s commitment will continue to monitor and ensure the public’s BBM needs. And once again, we convey this aspiration to the government,” he added.

In addition to prices, the Gerindra Party’s daily chairman also dismissed reports of plans to restrict purchases of certain BBM types such as Pertalite or Pertamax. Based on the latest coordination with the executive, national BBM stocks are stated to be safe and sufficient. However, he did not disclose how long the BBM stocks would last.

“I just asked (the government), it seems there are no restrictions. Because according to the government, our stocks are sufficient,” Dasco said.

The BBM increase issue resurfaced after a circulating decree on restrictions for Pertalite and diesel purchases. BPH Migas has asked the public to wait for the official government decision.

The government has assured that the rumour of a BBM price increase on 1 April 2026 is untrue. According to Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, there is no increase in fuel oil (BBM) prices.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi emphasised that the government guarantees that fuel oil (BBM) prices, both subsidised and non-subsidised, will not experience an increase.

The BBM increase rumour per 1 April triggered queues at SPBU in Makassar. Pertamina emphasised that there has been no official announcement and asked residents not to panic.

Entering the end of March 2026, the Indonesian public was stirred by circulating information regarding a non-subsidised BBM price increase.
