Baznas Plays Role in Realising Indonesia's Golden Vision 2045
The Indonesian Government Communications Agency (Bakom RI) has highlighted the crucial role of the National Zakat Collection Agency (Baznas) in supporting Indonesia’s Golden Vision 2045, which seeks to increase economic growth and eliminate extreme poverty.
This was conveyed directly by Acting Deputy Head of Government Communication Development, Adita Irawati, during the “Z-Talk: Zakat Strengthening Indonesia” event at Baznas RI headquarters in Matraman, Jakarta on Monday, 16 March.
Z-Talk is one of the face-to-face engagement activities between Baznas leadership and media practitioners and editors. The purpose of this agenda is to serve as a forum for improving communication and coordination between leaders within Baznas and media personnel, as well as to boost motivation and work productivity.
According to Adita, Baznas has an extraordinary role in supporting Indonesia’s Golden Vision 2045 in improving people’s welfare and eliminating extreme poverty through zakat, infaq, and sadaqah (ZIS) funds managed by Baznas.
“In the context of national development, zakat can become a strategic part in achieving our national objectives for poverty alleviation and improving community welfare,” said Adita.
However, she noted that despite Indonesia’s substantial zakat potential, the actual collection realisation remains suboptimal due to insufficient public literacy regarding zakat. For this reason, Adita emphasised the importance of good public communication and collaboration with all parties, particularly media, to bridge the gap between potential and realisation.
“Baznas as the sole institution mandated to collect zakat nationally is, in my view, highly strategic, but this must be supported by collaboration from all parties and especially our media colleagues. Because good public communication and packaging messages about zakat, which is indeed much needed by our society, is essential,” she said.
Nationally, zakat management throughout 2025 has successfully lifted 302,994 people out of poverty.
President Prabowo Subianto has emphasised the importance of integrating strategic government programmes as a step towards accelerating poverty alleviation. Philanthropy plays an important role in strengthening small and medium enterprises and the people’s economy through funding, mentoring, and collaboration for sustainable and inclusive development.
