The echo of takbir resounded solemnly amid the cool atmosphere and drizzle at the foot of Mount Slamet, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Friday morning (20/3/2026). Hundreds of congregants filled the Rempoah Village Hall after the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H prayer, originally planned for the field but moved indoors. Despite the unfriendly weather, the community’s enthusiasm remained high in performing worship while strengthening the values of Progressive Islam.

This event marks the third year initiated by the Baturraden Branch Leadership of Muhammadiyah. For Muhammadiyah, organising Eid al-Fitr prayers is not merely an annual routine but also part of enlightening da’wah that directly reaches grassroots communities.

Acting as the khatib, Faozan Amar, Deputy Chairman of the Social Welfare Development Council (MPKS) of the Central Leadership (PP) of Muhammadiyah, delivered a sermon titled “Eid al-Fitr and Taqwa: Realising Progressive Islam Amid Global Turbulence”. In his message, he emphasised that piety must be realised through concrete actions relevant to contemporary challenges.

According to him, the uncertain global geopolitical situation impacts the economic and social stability of the ummah. Therefore, he urged Muslims to build self-reliance and strengthen their work ethic. “The spirit of piety must not stop at the prayer mat but become the driving energy in facing challenges,” he stated, quoted by Republika from a written statement on Friday (20/3/2026).

Additionally, he invited the congregants to nurture universal humanitarian solidarity, including providing support for the Palestinian people’s struggle as part of moral responsibility.

The Secretary of the Baturraden Branch Leadership of Muhammadiyah, Nur Khasbi, stated that this event embodies the commitment to delivering joyful da’wah. He also appreciated the support from various parties, from the village government and sub-district to security apparatus, which contributed to the event’s success.

As part of philanthropic da’wah, the committee reported the distribution of infak from the previous year amounting to Rp6 million for the construction of Masjid As Salam Kutasari. On this Eid al-Fitr occasion, the congregants were again encouraged to strengthen the ummah’s economic pillars through zakat, infak, sedekah, and wakaf channelled via Lazismu Baturraden.

The series of worship concluded with the tradition of musafahah or handshaking among congregants. The warm and familial atmosphere reflected the strong Islamic brotherhood that forms the foundation of social life in Banyumas society.
