Batang records 8.38 per cent economic growth in second quarter

The Batang Regency Government, Central Java, has recorded economic growth realisation of up to 8.38 per cent in the second quarter of 2026, exceeding the regional development target set within the 6.35 per cent to 6.50 per cent range.

The Head of the Regional Planning, Research, and Development Agency of Batang Regency, Bagus Pambudi, stated in Batang on Thursday that this regional economic surge was supported by four priority sectors.

“This economic growth achievement places this region in the top three highest positions in Indonesia, directly below Ngawi Regency (East Java) and Kendal Regency (Central Java),” he said.

According to him, the main contributors to economic growth until mid-2026 were driven by the manufacturing industry, agriculture, trade, and the construction sector.

He noted that out of a total of 185 measured performance indicators, 74 per cent (136 indicators) achieved a ‘Very High’ rating.

Meanwhile, out of 44 Regional Government Organisations (OPD) evaluated, 25 OPDs earned a ‘Very High Performance’ rating, 16 recorded ‘High Performance’, while the remaining three OPDs, along with several sub-districts, still recorded 38 indicators performing at ‘Low’ to ‘Very Low’ levels.

“Therefore, there are still 38 indicators that require collective hard work so that the 2026 Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD) targets can be optimally completed by the end of this year,” he added.
