The Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN), Basuki Hadimuljono, revealed that President Prabowo Subianto has approved the construction designs for the legislative and judicial buildings in IKN. President Prabowo even provided input on colour choices and lighting.

This was disclosed by Basuki while receiving a visit from MPR RI Chairman Ahmad Muzani along with MPR leadership at the IKN Authority Office on Monday (20/4/2026). Basuki initially stated that President Prabowo had signed the plenary session hall building design.

“This, sir, madam, this is an aspect that I am truly proud of. Because he (President Prabowo) personally signed the design for the MPR plenary session hall. This, I think, we had to conduct a study visit first to Egypt, Turkey, and India. Then, we reported, we reported the results of the study visit,” explained Basuki.

“Then we created four design alternatives for review. He chose this one. So I think this is very touching for me, because it means that the President is fully engaged with IKN,” he added.

Basuki then explained that, beyond just signing, President Prabowo also provided input on the colour of the plenary session hall. Basuki admitted to being initially confused by President Prabowo’s suggestion of the colour “l’ombre.”

“This building (plenary hall), what, for its interior, he (President Prabowo) gave examples as I mentioned earlier, Mr. Muzani. Even down to the colour, he suggested a green like l’ombre. We had to find out what l’ombre is, right? It turns out it’s a restaurant in Paris. The green like that, l’ombre,” said Basuki.

In addition to suggesting the colour, another input from President Prabowo concerned the lighting. Basuki mentioned that the President provided suggestions on the lamp design to avoid too many ornaments, making it brighter.

“We can imagine, he even thought about the lamps. So I think this will hopefully make it better in the future. This is our legacy for the next 100 years,” he added.
