Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN), Basuki Hadimuljono, revealed that President Prabowo Subianto has approved the construction designs for the legislative and judicial buildings in IKN. President Prabowo even provided input on the colour choices up to the lighting.

This was disclosed by Basuki during a visit from MPR RI Chairman Ahmad Muzani along with MPR leaders at the IKN Authority Office on Monday (20/4/2026). Basuki initially stated that President Prabowo had signed the construction design for the plenary session building.

“This, sir, madam, this is an aspect that I am truly proud of. Because he (President Prabowo) personally signed the design for the plenary session, the MPR plenary session building. So, I think we had to conduct comparative studies first to Egypt, Turkey, and India. Then, we reported, we reported the results of the comparative study,” explained Basuki.

“Then we created four alternatives for the design review. He chose this one. So, I think this is very touching for me, because it means that the President is truly engaged with IKN,” he added.

Basuki then explained that, beyond just signing, President Prabowo also gave input on the colour of the plenary session room. Basuki admitted to being initially puzzled by President Prabowo’s suggestion of the colour l’ombre.

“For this building (plenary room), what, for the interior, he (President Prabowo) gave examples as I mentioned earlier, Mr Muzani. Even down to the colour, he suggested a colour like green l’ombre. We had to find out what l’ombre is, right? It turns out it’s a restaurant in Paris. The green like that, l’ombre,” said Basuki.

In addition to suggesting the colour, another input from President Prabowo concerned the lighting. Basuki mentioned that the President also provided input on the lamp design to avoid too many ornaments so that it could be brighter.

“We can imagine, he even thought about the lighting. So, I think this will hopefully make it better in the future. This is our legacy for the next 100 years,” he added.
