Bareskrim uncovers Whip Pink-linked temporary paralysis case

The Narcotics Crime Directorate (Dittipidnarkoba) of Bareskrim Police has revealed that a Whip Pink nitrous oxide gas user, identified as AM, suffered temporary paralysis. AM stated that the use of the product is strongly suspected to have affected his health, necessitating intensive treatment at a hospital in Tangerang. He experienced temporary paralysis leading to a fall down his staircase.

This aligns with the Ministry of Health’s expert opinion that direct use of nitrous oxide without strict medical supervision can cause peripheral neuropathy, a condition involving damage to peripheral nerves outside the brain, presenting symptoms such as numbness, tingling, and loss of coordination. AM is still undergoing treatment for health effects strongly suspected to stem from using Whip Pink nitrous oxide gas.

The directorate noted that AM first encountered Whip Pink at a North Jakarta club where it was sold in balloons. He had been ordering the product since January to March 2026 for personal use. Investigators have also interviewed another witness, CD, who ordered Whip Pink in 640g and 950g sizes more than five times between mid-2025 and early 2026. CD ordered the product via Google search for ‘WHIP CREAM’, was directed to a WhatsApp administrator, completed an order form, paid via mobile banking, and received delivery within an hour. The method of use involves inhaling through a funnel inserted into the mouth, with CD observing users bending over and closing their eyes after consumption.

The individuals involved include RV (29, North Jakarta), AM (29, Tangerang), CD (29, Jakarta), APG (21, Makassar), and ZNM (20, Makassar), with investigations focusing on their alleged use of Whip Pink.

In April 2026, Bareskrim’s Narcotics Crime Directorate dismantled a Jakarta-based factory producing Whip Pink nitrous oxide gas. Interrogation of nine detained witnesses revealed that PT SSS, the manufacturer, lacks legal certification and BPOM distribution permits. The production site and shipping warehouses are owned by AH, SC, and JH, with 16 storage points across 10 cities from Jakarta to Yogyakarta and Lombok.
