Bareskrim Polri conducted a raid on PT MMS’s office in Pademangan, North Jakarta, on Friday (29 May) over suspected palm oil export manipulation. Assistant Director of the Special Crimes Directorate at Bareskrim Polri, Senior Commissioner Setyo K Heriyanto, stated that PT MMS is suspected of manipulating palm oil export data or engaging in under-invoicing practices. “The case has been escalated to the investigation stage following a series of inquiries, collection of preliminary evidence, and case review,” he said in a written statement, cited on Sunday (31 May). In addition to PT MMS’s office, Setyo said authorities also raided the company’s warehouse in the Laksana industrial area, Pakuhaji, Tangerang, Banten. During the raids, investigators seized evidence allegedly linked to the company’s export activities, including corporate documents, invoices, Export Declaration Forms (PEB), and several computer units. “Investigators suspect the company manipulated export data to reduce the declared value of palm oil exports, a practice known as under-invoicing,” he added. He explained that PT MMS’s actions could potentially cause state losses due to discrepancies between reported export transaction values and actual conditions. Furthermore, Setyo said authorities are currently conducting a thorough examination of all seized documents and evidence. “We are still examining and investigating the documents found during the raids to uncover the alleged criminal activities,” he stated. Additionally, he confirmed that investigators will trace other parties suspected of involvement in the export data manipulation. Setyo assured that the police are fully committed to enforcing the law against all forms of violations in the trade and export of strategic national commodities. Particularly against under-invoicing and export data manipulation of crude palm oil (CPO), which are deemed to harm the state and disrupt Indonesia’s export trade management. “We will investigate those responsible for this case and ensure the legal enforcement process proceeds professionally,” he said.
